Videos and some articles are being posted by many people who believe our snow is some kind of fake substance that does not melt. They are seen in videos using lighters or blow torches on snow gathered from their yards and explain how unreal it is that the snow doesn't drip any water or appear to melt. - See this video as an example:

They also point out what appears to be black burn marks as if something plastic-like was scorched. They don't know what it is, but they think it's similar to Styrofoam or plastic, and some have claimed evil "Nanobots" are the culprits.
In actuality, there is a much more down to earth explanation and it's something called sublimation.
Definition: Sublimation is the term for when matter undergoes a phase transition directly from a solid to gaseous form, or vapor, without passing through the more common liquid phase between the two. It is a specific case of vaporization.
